In addition to the duration discrimination tasks,
two temporal generalization tasks were used with base durations of
75 and 1000 ms, respectively. Unlike duration discrimination,
temporal generalization relies on long-term memory as well as
timing processes (McCormack et al., 2002). This is because, with
the latter task, participants are presented with a reference
duration during a preexposure phase and are required to judge
whether the durations presented during the test phase are the same
as the reference duration that they have encountered
earlier.
